Forget Not Your First Love

[I work at a job that has a lot of down time.]
So, in the mornings and throughout the day, I am either praying for something or someone, or I am reading when I'm not helping or assisting customers.

Lately I have been reading a lot of books and Scripture references that have to do with loving God and loving others. Cuz really, that's what it's all about, right?

If we are truly going to be a disciple of Christ, we must love the Lord our God with all our might (see Matthew 32:27) and then love others (see Matthew 22:39)

But, somewhere along the lines... we've missed it.

Especially in the "Western world" church culture.

We get so distracted with things and technology and so many objects interfere and try to distract us in how we spend our time.

Today, while reading a book on love, the Holy Spirit stopped me. And I believe He spoke to me. I believe He spoke to me and said, that so many of us as believers have forgotten Him.

That we go on through our day and we're even being nice to people and working and spending time with our families and stuff, and well, we really do mean well.

But at the end of the day, He wants it all. He wants to be first.

Scripture has multiple references as to how God is a jealous God.
He fights for our affections.
He yearns for us to love Him.
He wants to be the One Who gets every part of our heart first, so that He can pour out Himself in us and then in turn, we can pour out His love to others.

We can't give away what we don't have.

Revelations 2:4 says, "But I have this against you, that you have left your first love."

God created us. He knows us, He loves us, He wants us.

Choose Him today.

And may He bless you with unending grace.

Peace and love be to you.
